The Professional Body of Sports Leadership has launched a Certification Programme offering courses aimed at helping sports industry professionals learn new skills and further progress in their careers.

The first course, ‘Leading In The Board Room / Governance In Sport’, launches next week and is designed to help current and aspiring Non-Executive Directors, Board members and sports professionals improve governance within the industry and develop the skills enabling them to lead in the Boardroom. Future courses covering a wide-ranging series of topics including ‘Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Leadership’, ‘High Performance, High Wellbeing in the Sports Industry’ and to ‘How to Become A Mentor In Sport’ will be announced shortly.

Each programme will be conducted by an expert in their field and once completed, participants will receive an official certification from the PBSL.

COURSE DETAILS

Course lengths will vary depending on the subject but members will have access to:

  • Online classes that involve presentations, discussions and learning
  • Access to session tools and a video library of previous classes
  • Opportunities to engage with subject experts and sport industry leaders
  • Opportunities to develop their professional network
  • A certificate after completion of the course and acknowledgement on the PBSL honours board

The first session of every course will offer an overview of what to expect from the programme and is free to attend for PBSL members or those who have signed up for the new free Essentials membership.

HOW TO TAKE PART IN A COURSE

PBSL members have priority access to all Certification Programme courses as part of their membership fee (some additional fees may apply for certain programmes). More information on how to become a member can be found on the membership page.

Subject to availability, other sports industry professionals can take part in the first session of every course through a PBSL Essentials membership. After hearing more about the course, should Essentials members want to continue, they can make a one-off payment for the remainder of the programme or upgrade to a full PBSL membership and receive all the benefits that come with it.
